The Australian State Truffle Enterprise (T.A.S.T.E)

TASTE is an Australian company formed to establish truffle growing enterprises in each of the southern states of Australia.

TASTE is the umbrella company and has the following roles:

• establish a tree nursery on Australian soil to provide the State distributors with seedlings
• provide cutting edge research on behalf of the State distributors
• provide technical support to the distributors whilst they establish and maintain plantations
• collect, collate and maintain data on all the plantations
• establish a wholesale, domestic and export network
• establish the plantations as carbon sinks
• achieve carbon trading accreditation

The first State Distributor is established in Western Australia and will become the prototype and produce the systemization process for future operations. The role of the State Distributor is to:

• establish share-farming agreements with landholders/farmers to establish plantations
• oversee the establishment of these plantations to set parameters
• maintain the plantations
• collect data for analysis
• harvest the truffles and get them to market
